Empowering Young Men Through Positive Peer Culture
Top Flight Academy uses Positive Peer Culture (PPC) as a behavioral model to empower students to stop negative behavior and make honest, positive changes in their lives. The program emphasizes internal change as opposed to simply monitoring outside behavior. This is accomplished as students and staff help each teenage boy identify his personal values and beliefs and the behaviors that are consistent and congruent with those values and beliefs.
Positive Peer Culture at Top Flight Academy focuses on three levels of responsibility to promote individual growth:
- Self Responsibility
- Group Responsibility
- Authority Responsibility
Positive Peer Culture is a valuable tool as teens work together to hold each other accountable for verbal and physical behaviors. Teens quickly find that manipulating people and situations to avoid responsibility is not an option. PPC provides a way for each boy to constructively work through issues rather than hide from or avoid them. It also provides a tool to help students communicate effectively and act responsibly for the rest of their lives.
